ABB Power Grids is seeking a Sr CDS project Mechanical Engineer for its Jefferson City, MO location. The responsibilities include to develop and implement new 3D Design System (CDSm) for tank and components for our distribution transformer products, aligned with common design system technology.

Your Responsibilities

Support development team with documentation of local Engineering and design rules and clarifications for Pad Mount project. Support the designers with questions as we transition from legacy to CDS design System
Collect feedback from designers and work with development teams to get the changes included in new releases. Provide final testing with local Integrations before pushing release to production
Occasional travel between factories, Raleigh or GEC to support the project as necessary <25%
As necessary update drawings/Models to cover/expand the portfolio of the DTR product. Maintain any local rules and create strategies to quick turns around as necessary until the new major release hits production.
Provide technical help on product to the users and Technology Center development Team.
Provide training to the Electrical and mechanical designers on tank and accessories selection.
Work towards drawings at the time of quote in future. Be flexible to project scope changes and support transition of legacy to new design system (CDS). Collect factory Issues and report back to TC team for future updates regarding transformer rules for tank and accessories.
Collaborate between TC, factory and designer teams for successful implementation of new design system (CDS). Maintain system for future cost outs or strategy deployments

Your Background

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electromechanical Engineering and 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
Experience with Transformer or Transformer components and tank design using 3D CAD software, CREO preferred
Basic Programming Skills Rules Engine Code, SQL Experience
Good analytical and presentation skills; Experience with design for manufacturing concept
Ability to manage time and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Ability to handle and support change management. Ability to work with agile methodology of development and implementation. Good team player
Deep understanding of electrical product design using 3D modeling. Familiarity and experience working with IEEE electrical /Power equipment design standards. Experience in developing and implementation of design/process rules, ABB CDS design system
