Job Title: Director of Test Assets
Job Overview:
The Director of Test Assets will provide strategic and operational leadership in managing, maintaining, and improving the reliability and performance of test assets across Virginia Transformer’s North American and Mexican plants. This senior-level role involves overseeing the lifecycle management of test assets, including preventive maintenance, spare parts inventory, project execution, and cross-functional collaboration to support operational excellence and business growth. The Director will lead initiatives to ensure asset reliability, negotiate with vendors, and implement innovative solutions to meet the organization’s evolving needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Asset Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for managing test assets across North America and Mexico, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry standards.
- Preventive Maintenance: Establish and oversee a robust preventive maintenance program for all test assets to enhance reliability, reduce downtime, and optimize performance.
- Project Leadership: Manage and execute test asset-related projects, including scope definition, resource allocation, and cross-functional coordination, ensuring timely and successful completion.
- Vendor Negotiations: Lead negotiations with asset suppliers and service providers to secure cost-effective contracts, ensure timely delivery of parts, and maintain strong partnerships.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, quality, and procurement teams to align test asset management with broader operational and business objectives.
- Asset Reliability: Monitor and improve asset performance metrics, implementing initiatives to enhance reliability and reduce operational risks.
- Spare Parts Management: Develop and maintain an inventory of critical spare parts to ensure uninterrupted operations across multiple locations.
- Multi-Site Oversight: Ensure consistent standards, processes, and practices are implemented across all North American and Mexican facilities, driving efficiency and consistency.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements for test asset management.
- Data-Driven Insights: Leverage performance data and analytics to identify areas for improvement, track KPIs, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide teams of technicians and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field; a master’s degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in asset management, maintenance, or related technical fields, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in preventive maintenance programs, asset reliability improvement, and spare parts management.
- Proven experience managing multi-site operations, including facilities in North America and Mexico.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable vendor agreements.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to manage complex projects across multiple locations.
- Familiarity with safety protocols, compliance requirements, and industry standards related to test asset management.
- Experience with data-driven decision-making and KPI tracking for operational improvements.
