To provide electrical engineering expertise and technical support to promote increased plant reliability and world class maintenance of site facilities.

The Electrical Engineer is a staff position reporting to the Process Engineering Superintendent.

What will you do:

Analyze process equipment problems and/or failures and recommends corrective actions
Provide engineering for corrective action, obtain necessary approvals when required, issue written reports, and follow up to ensure proper completion
Assist in the maintenance and updating of plant technical and engineering specifications
Provide technical support as required to the planning and performance of turnarounds and planned outages
Develop major overhaul scopes for plant equipment based on anticipated repairs, known problems, machinery performance and available downtime
Provide recommendations to ensure that the plant takes full advantage of or recognizes the latest equipment developments, diagnostic methods, and maintenance techniques
Support maintenance and/or project groups on an emergency basis which can potentially be on nights and/or weekends
Work daily with Area Team members under the direction of the Area Operations Manager to accomplish plant objectives in priority areas of Safety, Environmental, Quality, Reliability, Production, Efficiency, Cost Reduction and Innovation
Provide technical support to the maintenance department on a day-to-day or emergency basis.
Instruct plant personnel when practical and when deficiencies are noted
Off-plant witnessing of equipment testing/repair or vendor shop/expertise evaluation and the writing of purchase requisitions
Provide both formal and informal training to maintenance and operations personnel as needed to support the efficient and appropriate operation and maintenance of plant equipment
Provide specialized knowledge for the analysis of electrical problems and equipment failures
Review “Management of Change” in the areas of electrical interlocks, power distribution, or electrical components and recommends corrective actions
Provide troubleshooting capabilities to area maintenance personnel on day to day control and interlock problems in such areas as boiler controls, electrical drives, power distribution, etc.
Perform analytical calculations dealing with electrical raceways, voltage drop, feeder sizing, circuit protection, etc.
Upgrade and maintains personal competency for latest advances in programmable logic controls and electrical protection relays
Provide inspection service for electrical equipment and develops equipment repair procedures/recommendations
Develop preventive maintenance recommendations for electro-mechanical/pneumatic controls
Monitor and report on the site transformer fleet maintenance by way of annual transformer fluid analysis
Maintain, develop as needed, and revise the power system arc flash model
Update and originate electrical drawings as needed by the electrical crew and/or projects group
Develop switching procedures as needed for complex electrical tasks requiring special lockout or isolation measures
Assess the feasibility of and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products or equipment

What you will bring:

Prefer B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering
Familiarity with industrial codes and standards
Ability to deal effectively with various departments, outside contractors and consultants.
Ability to perform or manage day-to-day activities with minimum supervision is essential
5+ years of experience in industrial setting
