We provide full-service electrical engineering services to support electric utilities nationwide. We’re also fortunate to support wind farms, DER renewables and transmissions systems.

Due to Client growth, we are actively seeking additional Protection & Control (P & C) Design Engineers to join our Engineering Team in either Bangor, Maine or Glen Mills, PA.

This P&C Design Engineer’s emphasis will be on the detailed design of electric power substations of transmission and distribution systems. Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following duties:

Detailed design for transmission or distribution system protection to include relays, communication and monitoring systems, panel meters, control house panels, cables and associated wiring materials
AC and DC schematics and breaker controls
Development of operating and elementary diagrams
Development and review of protection schemes and devices
Development and issuing of temporary (mobile) transformer settings
Conducting electric system modeling and short circuit analyses
Determination of equipment interrupting ratings
Relay coordination studies
Civil structural and construction design, engineered shoring plans, engineered traffic plans
Distribution electrical design (including but not limited to one-lines, construction events)
Evaluation of electrical systems for necessary upgrades for interconnection
Specification and procurement of equipment and material
System Protection & Control (SP&C) Design including the creation of SP&C construction drawing packages and the procurement of materials
Provide engineering assistance during testing and commissioning

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:

Seven (7) years or more of Power System Engineering experience with a minimum of 4+ years specifically focused on design for protection and control (P & C)
Bachelor’s Degree (BS) In Electrical or Power Systems Engineering
AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, Microstation design skills/ experience
Experience writing design criterion and installation specifications for projects
Skills in developing single-line switching and protection diagrams as well as three-line and DC schematic diagrams
3+ years of experience in conducting required calculations and creating reports: AC and DC systems, including sizing DC batter, overvoltage protection and coordination, conduit fill, grounding, developing control panel layouts and wiring diagrams, selecting protective devices and ratings
Coordination of design issues and assure all engineering documents and records are accurately created and maintained
Creation of equipment specifications and support procurement of equipment
Experience in developing and maintaining Bills of Material (BOMs)
