Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Substation Wiring Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in designing and drafting electrical systems and components for substation projects. The Substation Wiring Designer will collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to create detailed designs that meet project requirements and industry standards. Attention to detail, strong technical skills, and a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Design and draft electrical layouts, schematics, and diagrams for substation projects.
- Develop detailed electrical designs for various substation components including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, relays, and control systems.
- Ensure that all designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and specifications.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise and recommendations as needed.
- Generate bills of materials (BOMs) and assist in the procurement of electrical components.
- Conduct thorough quality checks on designs to identify and resolve any errors or discrepancies.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to electrical designs, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Support construction and installation activities by providing clarifications and technical guidance to onsite teams.
- Stay updated on advancements in electrical design software, tools, and techniques, and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Desired Education, Experience and Training
- Associates Degree and proven experience (10 plus years) working as an Electrical Designer, preferably in the substation or power systems industry.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including power distribution, circuitry, and control systems.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes such as ANSI, IEEE, and NEC.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience with other design software or tools such as Revit, MicroStation, AutoCAD Electrical or ETAP is a plus.
