Solid state transformers course – e-lesson #3: Introduction to distributed generation

Event Details:
The third lesson of the new course titled “Introduction to distributed generation” is scheduled for March 4th at 2 pm CET.
A distributed generation system becomes more efficient and reliable and provides a better configuration to absorb high penetration of renewable energy sources compared with the conventional grids.
Distributed energy sources interconnected with distribution network are continuously increasing thanks to the electricity market liberalisation and advanced developments in technologies of energy generation and distribution. Benefits that dispersed generation offers, public regulations and economic opportunities promote the spread of these units throughout the distribution network and the world.
Distribution network can be affected by stability and security issues. When a fault occurs, there is the possibility of continuously supplying it from different sources and from the generator connected to the faulted feeder.
