France’s primary electricity generation utility, Électricité de France (EDF), chose its Hydro power plant division for implementing a large-scale digital monitoring project in 2012. Currently, 630 turbines have been monitored, which totals 18.7 GW of installed power. This strategic initiative targets enhancing plant performance, safety, maintenance and availability with the expectation of a Return On Investment within 3 to 6 years.
