The increase in population has caused a growing energy demand in our world. In order to meet this demand, as an alternative solution to the energy produced with fossil fuels, solutions such as solar energy and wind energy are becoming more widespread today.

Wind turbines are highly preferred because they can be used under most land conditions, even at sea. Advantages such as the non-existence of a fire risk in a nacelle, having a high resistance to short-circuits, and having a very low partial discharge, have guided us in designing dry-type transformers.

 

Working under wind turbine conditions

Designing transformers suitable for operation in a nacelle is an extremely complex and technically demanding task. Conditions such as ambient temperature, fresh air inlet / outlet, vibration, loads due to rotor movements, must be carefully considered and taken into account.

Detailed FEM and FMEA risk analyses are carried out to take precautions against all kinds of malfunctions in the nacelle. In addition, some extra analyses are done, such as thermal analysis, inductionagainst-voltage analyses, voltages-againstfrequency and saturation analyses.

The obtained data is entered into simulation programs, and the results are then observed. These analyses and simulations are conducted in order not to miss any detail in the design of the dry transformer that will operate in a nacelle.

It is of utmost importance to ensure the withstand of the transformer that will operate in a nacelle against vibrations caused by the rotor movements.
