The EIB and Spanish utility Naturgy have agreed a €1 billion ($1.05 billion) loan to support investments in solar energy and onshore wind power plants in Spain.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is lending €400 million ($420.1 million) to Czech energy supplier ČEZ to upgrade and expand the country’s distribution grid.

Iberdrola has sealed a €120 million ($129.8 million) debt financing deal supporting research and innovation in the energy sector with a focus on decarbonization.

The EIB and the DBSA will each provide €100 million ($110.4 million) to support solar and wind power projects in South Africa.

The EIB will lend Elektro Ljubljana €50 million ($55.3 million) to expand and upgrade the distribution network in central and southeastern Slovenia.

Among the most important operations financed from the resources are the maintenance, renewal and development of distribution facilities.

The funds are necessary for modernisation of the grid

The funds are aimed at improving the efficiency and resilience of the power grid and helping connect more renewable energy sources.
