Alliance introduces new distribution transformers sustainable practices
Missouri, Kansas City: The Electric Utility Industry Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance (Alliance) announced the release of a collection of sustainable practices in the area of distribution transformer purchasing, management and disposal/reuse.
The focus is on distribution transformers due to the impact sustainable practices can have in this area, reports Sys-Con Media. Estimates of annual distribution transformer shipments range from $700,000 to 1 million valued at over $2 billion in sales revenues. Typical service life of a transformer is about 35 -40 years with many in the US ending their useful life.
With this document, the Alliance supports utilities and non-utilities with identifying sustainable practices in the area of transformer purchasing, management and disposal/reuse.
