Substation fire causes blackout in city and 200 villages
India, Bareilly: Dohna substation overloaded and caught fire affecting 11 substations connecting to the parent line and triggering a complete shutdown in the city.
A 5 MVA transformer tripped, followed by a 40 MVA transformer overloading in Dohna parent substation, reports The Times of India.
The situation went out of control after a 5 MVA transformer which supplies power to the industrial area caught fire due to overloading. As the transformer’s oil leaked, the fire spread to nearby areas. A 40MVA transformer also caused damage to circuit cables leading to major technical problem. The power supply was also affected in 200 villages of the district.
