FirstEnergy plans $35M power upgrades for shale gas facilities

USA, Ohio: FirstEnergy Corp. is looking to invest $35 million over the next two years on several transmission and substation projects in order to improve electrical service around Marcellus shale gas development.

 


USA, Pennsylvania: FirstEnergy Corp. is looking to invest $35 million over the next two years on several transmission and substation projects in order to improve electrical service around Marcellus shale gas development.

The upgrades include building a $31 million substation with power transformers and associated electrical equipment in Washington County, Pennsylvania, to support a new gas processing facility, reports The Tribune-Review.

In addition to the substation, the company will start working on a $1 million transmission substation project near Houston in Washington County, and next year will upgrade a 15-kilometre transmission line between Burgettstown and Weirton, Pennsylvania.
