Siemens to upgrade electricity infrastructure in Bahrain

The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) in Bahrain has awarded Siemens a contract to upgrade the energy infrastructure in the Kingdom and install a new high-voltage power transmission network.

As part of the contract, Siemens will supply, install and commission three 400/220 kV substations with power transformers and associated electrical and power transmission equipment, to be constructed at Al Hidd, Riffa and Umm Al Hassam.

The three substations are expected to be completed within two years, reports AME Info.

An upgraded 400 kV network is expected to strengthen the country’s electricity transmission grid, serve the increasing electricity demands from a growing population and cater to industrial needs.
