Egypt will seek $530M to finance T&D projects

Egypt, Cairo: The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) is intending to borrow $530 million from the banking sector to finance its future expansion projects in power transmission and distribution sectors.

The company will seek a loan to finance the needs of the first phase of transmission and distribution projects, aimed at developing and expanding the national electricity network and infrastructure, reports Daily News Egypt.

These projects include construction of 500 kV transformer stations, with a capacity of 2,700 kVA and additional 870 km of transmission lines, erection of 220 kV transformer stations with a capacity of 10,000 MVA and additional 5,500 km lines, and installation of 66 kV power transformers with a capacity of 12,000 MVA and construction of about 5,600 km lines.
