Transformer explosion shuts down power plant in Tuticorin

India, Chennai: A transformer that exploded at Tuticorin power plant yesterday led to the tripping of four units and the loss of 840 MW of generated power.

Tuticorin plant has five units with a capacity of 210 MW each, reports The Times of India.

According to the plant officials, it will take at least two days to repair the unit 2 and the failed transformer.
