Construction at largest Fosen sub-project to start soon
Norway: Construction at the largest section of Europe’s biggest onshore wind project, the €1.1 billion ($1.2 billion) 1 GW Fosen Vind in Norway, is set to start in April.
The contractor, Norwegian company Veidekke, has been awarded a $47.7 million contract to build the 80-turbine Storheia, the largest of the six wind farms at the giant complex, the project which will also include a transformer station building and three transformer cells, reports Recharge.
The entire complex will be made up of the Harbaksfjellet, Roan, Storheia and Kvenndalsfjellet wind farms north of the Trondheim fjord, totalling 750 MW, as well as the Geitfjellet and Hitra 2 wind farms south of the Trondheim fjord, with a further 250 MW.
Switch-on is expected in 2020.
