Massive fire at Philly substation left 36,000 without power
USA, Philadelphia: Two Philadelphia schools will be closed today as officials continue to work to restore power for thousands of consumers after a large fire erupted at a PECO substation in Philadelphia’s Nicetown-Tioga section on Tuesday 7 March.
Officials say the fire was electrical, but have not yet revealed what started the blaze. According to the footage and images broadcast on NBC10, the power transformers do not seem to be affected.
Flames spread through the substation but didn’t go beyond the facility into the surrounding neighbourhood. No injuries were reported and no one nearby was evacuated, reports NBC10.
