Bangladesh awards $30M substation order to enhance power grid
Switzerland, Zurich: ABB has won a $30 million substation order from Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd (PGCB), the country’s national transmission utility, to enhance transmission capacity and boost electricity supply to more than 250,000 households in the country.
As part of the project, ABB will build two new substations and upgrade two existing ones, all located in the south-eastern parts of Bangladesh, the manufacturer stated in a press release.
Specifically, the company will build and commission one 132 kV/33 kV AIS substation in Kachua, one 132 kV/33 kV GIS substation in Kalurghat, as well as upgrade two existing 132 kV/33 kV AIS substations into GIS substations in the Comilla and Modhunaghat areas.
The design, engineering, system integration and supply of key products, including power transformers, will be executed by ABB’s operations in India.
