Power restored after transformer fire at Las Vegas substation
USA, Nevada: A power transformer burst into fire at an electrical substation in the south Las Vegas Valley Monday morning, leaving thousands without power.
The transformer explosion occurred at the NV Energy station at the corner of East Frias Avenue and Giles Street, near the South Point, causing a power outage to about 4,200 NV Energy customers, reports Las Vegas Review Journal.
After NV Energy crews de-energized the transformer, firefighters were able to pour water on the fire and extinguish it.
No information of the possible cause of fire has been made available.
