Global transformer industry lines up for CWIEME Berlin 2017

From 20-22 June, Berlin will become the centre of the global transformer industry as thousands of companies gather to network, make new connections and keep up-to-date with the latest industry developments.

As well leading suppliers from across the globe showcasing thousands of products and technologies, this year see’s the addition of new tutorials, specifically designed for transformer professionals.

These small-group sessions will offer a private, interactive forum for participants to network, refresh their knowledge, and take the time to explore key technical design and project challenges with experts in their field.

The first tutorial, entitled ‘Beyond historical boundaries – transformer application design and anticipating customer needs for non-standard applications’, will be run by Kevin Wilson, technical manager at Wilson Power Solutions and will highlight challenges in transformer design resulting from changing network conditions, specifically non-standard applications such as wind, solar, pump-storage and FACTS. Drawing on Wilson’s extensive industry experience, this tutorial will identify major pitfalls, provide practical suggestions and discuss best practice for how to overcome them.

The second tutorial, ‘Adapting your distribution transformers to meet the SMART changes’, will focus on the latest methods of building reliable and efficient distribution transformers while staying competitive and help prepare participants to better react and plan for changing regulations as well as the need and impact of smarter grid systems. Discussion topics will include improving transformer quality and lifecycle extension, material savings for improving filling factors, optimization of layout spaces, lean production methods, and how industry 4.0 equipment is already acting as a game-changer for higher performance design and manufacturing all-round.

These tutorials will run alongside the regular schedule of free-to-attend key note speeches, seminars and workshops.
