Virginia Transformer wins transformer contract in Centralia City

USA, Washington: The Centralia City Council in Washington State authorized the purchase of a new substation transformer from the Virginia Transformer Co. in Pocatello, Idaho.

The $860,429 transformer will serve as the main piece of equipment at the soon-to-be constructed Salzer substation at 201 E. Summa St., which is scheduled for completion in 2018 and will help improve the city’s electrical system, reports The Chronicle.

The transformer will be capable of handling the entire electrical load of the city in emergencies and will be built on a platform that will move during an earthquake to protect it.
