Egypt to fund grid improvements with $386M

Egypt, Cairo: Egypt’s ministry of power has allocated $386 million towards the upgrade of the country’s electricity grid in the next fiscal year, 2017/2018.

The funds have been earmarked for the network upgrades – maintenance of equipment and cables, and upgrades of the electricity transmission and distribution companies across the country, reports ESI-Africa.

The strategy will also include replacement of substations.
