Armenia, Yerevan: A major reconstruction of two substations in the southern Armenian province of Syunik has begun as part of an upgrade program of the country’s power grid and the energy infrastructure.
The project worth $31.9 million includes an upgrade of two critical substations for the national grid – Shinuayr and Agarak-2, which will receive an additional 220 kV autotransformer, reports Arka.
Agarak-2 is also directly connected to the neighbouring Iranian power grid.
The project is financed by the Asian Development Bank loan and executed by a joint Chinese venture – Liaoning-EFACEC Electrical Equipment Co. LTD and Northeast China International Electric Power Corporation.
It is scheduled for completion in 2019.
