Blown transformer leaves over 10,500 without power in NY

USA, New York State: More than 10,500 people went without power at the peak of an electricity outage in the city of Auburn in Cayuga County, state of New York, following transformer failure on Monday afternoon.

The outage was caused by a blown transformer, following a large explosion at the power transfer station on State Street, according to the Sheriff’s Office, reports The Citizen.

There were no injuries related to the blast.

By now power has been restored to most customers affected by the incident.
