Poland launched $1.8B programme to modernize electricity distribution grid
Through its subsidiary distribution company PGE Dystrybucja, Polish power company PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE) has started an investment program of about $1.8 billion (€1.6 billion) to modernise the electricity distribution network between 2016 and 2019.
In support of the programme, The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a funding of $129 million (€115 million), which PGE will used for the projects within the grid modernisation scheme.
PGE’s investment program will enable to accommodate the growing volume of small-scale and distributed generation of renewable energy.
