Truck spills 200 litres of transformer oil in West Auckland
New Zealand, Auckland: About 200 litres of oil has spilled after a transformer fell from a truck in West Auckland.
The spill occurred near a petrol station on Rosebank Road in Avondale when the truck came from the Patiki Road and Rosebank Road roundabout with an “unsecure load”, reports Stuff.co.nz.
“The transformer it was carrying has fallen over, and approximately 200 litres of mineral oil has leaked into the gutters,” Te Atatu Fire Station officer said.
A “small amount” went into the stormwater drains, and that oil has been pumped out by Auckland Council’s pollution control unit.
The fire brigade that was on the scene isolated the oil, applying pea moss onto the oil to turn it into solid form.
