Nepal to receive $150M loan to strengthen power distribution network

The Asian Development Bank has approved a $150 million loan to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) aimed at improving reliability and efficiency of Nepal’s electricity supply and distribution.

The funds will be used to rehabilitate and upgrade the existing transmission and distribution systems in the country in order to be able to deliver the additional electricity supplies created through various hydropower projects nearing completion and imports from India through cross-border line, reports The Financial.

The project should strengthen the transmission grid capacity, enhance the distribution capacity and improve reliability and quality of electricity supply in the Kathmandu Valley.
