Quad Cities-2 main transformer successfully repaired

USA, Illinois: Exelon Generation’s 994 MW Quad Cities-2 nuclear unit in Cordova, Illinois, is in the process of returning to full power after a 7.5-day outage to repair the unit’s main transformer.

The unit was taken offline on August 6, reports Platts.

“Significant maintenance was limited to the unit’s main power transformer” and “the repairs were successful,” Exelon spokeswoman Brandy Donaldson said.

Due to the maintenance, Quad Cities-2 was operating at 79% capacity. Donaldson did not say when the unit is expected to return to full power.
