Johnson City to get a new substation

USA, Tennessee: The Johnson City Energy Authority is to begin construction on a new substation between Jonesborough and Johnson City, Tennessee, which should help distribute the electric load in the area and provide more reliable power supply.

The Midway substation, with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, will be built on Main Street, east of downtown Jonesborough and near Norfolk Southern’s railroad tracks, reports Johnson City Press.

Due to the location of the site of the future substation, the driveway to the substation must take a winding route up because trucks transporting the transformers can only climb a 5 to 7 percent grade.
