New substation to transfer electricity from floating North Sea windfarm
UK, Scotland: Plans to build a new substation to transfer electricity from the Kincardine Offshore Windfarm, world’s largest floating windfarm, have been approved.
The proposed facility, with power transformers and all other requisite electrical equipment, will allow the transfer of the electricity generated from the floating windfarm once it is up and running, reports Evening Express.
The windfarm will be located off the Scottish coast, some 14.5 kilometres south east of Aberdeen, while the substation will be built on former farmland to the west of Langdykes Road, Cove.
Once operational, the Kincardine Offshore Windfarm will have the capacity to power the equivalent of 55,000 homes.
