Transformer fire caused power loss at Shell Convent Plant
USA, Louisiana: Transformer explosion which caused a large fire at an Entergy substation near the Shell Convent Louisiana refinery on Tuesday night prompted an uncontrolled shutdown of the St. James Motiva plant.
The substation, which is owned by Entergy, is on the grounds of Shell Oil’s refinery but separated from the plant by a metal fence, and it is the main electrical source for the Motiva plant, reports Plaquemine Post South.
Entergy clarified that the transformer is owned by the Shell Convent Refinery.
Shell Oil and Entergy are now working together to investigate what caused a transformer to catch fire.
