Major power outage hits Joburg North after transformer tripping
South Africa, Johannesburg: Residents of the greater Johannesburg North region including Emmarentia, Linden, Northcliff and as far as Hurlingham Manor are affected by a major power outage following an incomer tripping at Delta Substation’s first, second and third transformers.
As Delta Substation is one of City Power’s main substations, the outage is also affecting the Roosevelt Park Substation, Rosebank Substation and Parktown Substation, effectively leaving a large part of the Johannesburg North region without power, reports Northcliff Melville Times.
Delta Substation recently received attention after the first mobile on-site testing to be conducted on high voltage power transformers in South Africa was launched there in June.
City Power’s technicians are on site but there is no estimated time when the power will be fully restored.
