Transformer blast kills 14 people in Jaipur

India, Jaipur: A transformer explosion in Jaipur’s Khatauli village near Shahpura town on Tuesday killed five persons at the spot injuring 22 others, but the death toll has risen to 14.

The massive explosion took place as members of a family were passing by the transformer in a marriage procession, police said.

Sources said that the transformer had been repaired an installed only six days before the incident, while Jaipur discom managing director, RG Gupta, said that reports of oil leakage were incorrect, reports Hindustan Times.

An inquiry into the incident has been ordered by the state power minister.
