Burnt transformer cuts power to half of Dimapur

India, Nagaland: A large power transformer went up in flames at the 132 kV Nagarjan substation in Dimapur, cutting power to half of the city and its urban centre, Peren.

One 20 MVA power transformer is completely burnt and there is a likelihood that the adjacent transformer might be damaged too, reports The Morung Express.

Further damage to other equipment was prevented by the timely intervention of fire crews.

The cause and extent of the damage will be known after the investigation of the incident.
