Siemens to provide new transformers for England-France HVDC link

Siemens will supply four 400 kV HVDC transformers for the 2,000 MW cross-channel link between France and the UK.

The four new energy-efficient units, each with a capacity of 315 MVA, will be delivered on behalf of the British grid operator National Grid to replace the old transformers in the HVDC cross-channel link, the manufacturer stated in the press release.

The order includes the supply, installation and commissioning of the transformers for the Sellindge converter station in England.

Siemens will complete the work by mid-2019.
