New substation to connect Alliant’s power plant to the grid
USA, Wisconsin: Wisconsin state utility regulators approved a $42 million transmission line to be built by American Transmission Company (ATC) in order to connect the Alliant Riverside electric power plant under construction in the Town of Beloit to the electrical grid.
The project calls for about 4.2 miles of 345 kV line and a new substation, with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, southwest of Alliant’s West Riverside Energy Center, reports Beloit Daily News.
The line is expected to be in service by April 2019 well in advance of the completion of Alliant’s $700 million West Riverside Energy Center.
Construction of the 730-megawatt natural gas-fuelled plant is expected to be completed by early 2020.
