Ontario’s transformer maker buying plant in New Brunswick

Canada, New Brunswick: Ontario’s power transformer maker Cam Tran Co. is buying the former Moloney Electric plant in Sackville, New Brunswick, which will reopen under new ownership.

After Moloney Electric shut down, Sackville Mayor, former Moloney Electric employees and other stakeholders in the community worked to identify the market for the now-defunct plant’s transformers, and then looked for companies willing to manufacture transformers in Sackville, reports Sackville Tribune-Post.

The deal will get Cam Tran closer to Atlantic region’s utilities and also add production capacity to its plant in Colborne, Ontario.

The initial work at the Sackville plant will come from contracts now being filled in Ontario, giving the Colborne plant some breathing room.
