Japanese company to build new substations in Tajikistan

Tajikistan’s Barki Tojik OSHC and Japan’s Nishizawa Ltd. have signed a $17.5 million contract to improve Dushanbe city’s energy supply within the grant project “Improvement of substations in Dushanbe city”.

Under the terms of the contract, Nishizawa will build a new substation in the Ismoili Somoni district of Dushanbe in the next two years, and increase the capacity of the Promyshlennaya substation located in the Sino district of Dushanbe, reports Trend.

The power transformers, switchgears and other electrical equipment for the substations will be manufactured and supplied by Toshiba.

The project is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
