TCN increases power transmission capacity across the country

In January 2018, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) increased the transmission capacity of its grid by 1,400 MW by commissioning new power transformers across the country.

According to the Interim Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Usman Gur Mohammed, more installations are planned within the Transmission, Rehabilitation and Expansion Programme (TREP), including the construction of 330 kV substations and installation of a 150 MVA power transformer in Okpa/Kwale, reports TCN.

The implementation of the TREP program is expected to help rehabilitate and stabilize the grid as well as increase the wheeling capacity of the grid to 25,000 MW.
