TCN needs to replace 7 power transformers damaged in January

Nigeria: Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) recorded six systems collapses in January 2018 with several power transformers damaged or completely destroyed and needing replacement.

Among the failed equipment are one 150 MVA Mitsubishi power transformer in Jos, which was completely burnt; one 30 MVA Toshiba transformer at Gusau substation; one 100 MVA SPECO transformer at Ejigbo substation; one 60 MVA ABB transformer at Katampe substation; one 60 MVA transformer at Aja substation; one 60 MVA transformer at Benin substation, and one 60 MVA at Okene substation, all of which were completely damaged, reports Vanguard.

It will take at least nine months for the company to procure new transformers and rehabilitate the power system, which has been significantly hampered by these failures.
