Proposed new substation to improve electricity supply in Breckland

UK, Norfolk: Breckland District Council has submitted an application for a new substation to be built adjacent to the Snetterton Renewable Energy Plant, which began operations last year.

The project, with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, would connect to the high voltage power line which connects the plant to the major network power distribution point at Diss, reports The Thetford & Brandon Times.

The application, which is soon to be discussed, has been recommended for approval.

“We expect a funding bid for the project to be considered by the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership in the coming weeks and if this is secured we expect to begin work on implementing the project in summer this year,” said a spokesman for Breckland Council.
