One dead and 8 injured after transformer bushing fails
India, Uttar Pradesh: One person died and eight others were injured when a high voltage current passed through 40 houses in Meerut’s Inchauli area, following a failure of a transformer bushing.
According to the chief engineer of the power department in Meerut, the incident took place in Kuan Patti locality when a high tension wire of 11 kV touched a 230 V low tension wire after the bushing of a transformer failed, reports The Indian Express.
An 11 kV current passed through the houses for a few seconds, setting fire to one house due to the short circuit, killing one person on the spot in another house and injuring eight more people who sustained serious burns after coming in contact with the high voltage current.
