Powerful new features bring greater accuracy and automation to industrial users of thermal imaging

Santa Clara (CA), March 2018 – LumaSense Technologies, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of version 1.5 of LumaSpec RT. This thermal imaging software offers high-speed, real-time data acquisition and image analysis for industrial users.

The update includes several new features, including a new scene tracking feature that will make monitoring more accurate and consistent. Monitoring with the Scene Recognition feature allows users to avoid having to manually adjust software settings due to scene changes from slight target or camera movements.

“When enabled, this new feature allows users to save a scene or area and when the software detects a shift in the scene, it will automatically move the image analysis tools,” LumaSense Sr. Director of Product Management Lenny Shaver explains. For example, when our FurnaceSpection systems are extracted from the furnace and then re-inserted, if the registered scenes doesn’t align with the furnace tubes exactly the same as before, then the image analysis tools will automatically adjust to the correct spot for continued, accurate monitoring.

Another example is monitoring electrical assets, such as bushings, in a substation using the ThermalSpection TS724 system. In this case, the infrared camera is pole mounted and monitoring a relatively small object from up to 100 meters. This auto alignment feature ensures more accurate data collection over time.

LumaSpec RT provides users with intuitive image and display tools to understand the thermal characteristics of their processes, equipment, and products using LumaSense Mikron M7500, MC320, MCS640, and MCL640 thermal imaging cameras. Display tools allow users to view thermal snapshots, real-time camera feeds, captured sequences, or temperature profiles. Other features of the new release include expanded automation tools to allow the software to change analysis recipes based on configuration signals from the plant’s DCS (distributed control system), new trigger functions as well as general improvements in performance.
