New York to develop $1.4B renewable energy projects
USA, New York: New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has announced an investment of $1.4 billion to develop renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 1.38 GW.
The investment is expected to develop more than 26 large-scale renewable energy projects across the state, which will include 22 solar farms, three wind farms and one hydroelectric project, reports CTBR.
Construction on several projects is expected to begin this April, while all the projects are anticipated to be operational by 2022.
“Achieving 50% of New York’s electricity from renewable sources by 2030 is a cornerstone of Governor Cuomo’s nation-leading agenda to fight climate change,” said The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority president and CEO Alicia Barton.
