Massachusetts agrees to $950M NECEC transmission project

The U.S. state of Massachusetts has selected the $950 m New England Clean Energy Connect (NECEC) transmission project of Central Maine Power (CMP) as the sole clean energy solution in the Massachusetts Green Communities Act Section 83D RFP for long-term contracts for clean energy projects.

NECEC will feature a 1,200 MW HVDC transmission line that will connect the power grids in Québec and New England.

The transmission project will be capable of providing clean electricity for up to 1.5 million New England homes.
