ZESA purchases two new power transformers at $6.5M
ZESA Holdings has purchased two power transformers worth $6.5 million to be installed at Chertsey and Marvel substations in a project that will ensure reliable supplies of electricity in the Matabeleland and Midlands Provinces.
A 90 MVA transformer will be installed at Chertsey in Gweru and it will ensure a more reliable supply of electricity to a population of about two million people in the Midlands Province, reports Zimbabwe Daily.
The other 175 MVA transformer will be installed at Marvel substation and ensure reliable power supply to over two million consumers in Bulwayo and Matabeleland South and North Provinces.
The oldest transformer at that substation, now 51 years old, has outlived its expected lifespan of 25 years.
