NG upgrades two substations as part of UK-Belgium connection project
UK, Kent: National Grid is making progress on the Richborough Connection project, a new 400 kV transmission line between Richborough and Canterbury in Kent, which will allow electricity flow between the UK and Europe.
The new line will connect Nemo Link, an electricity link between Herdersbrug near Bruges in Belgium and Richborough, near Sandwich in Kent, UK into the high voltage electricity network, reports Network.
In addition to the new line, new electrical equipment is being installed at Canterbury North substation and Richborough substation, to upgrade the existing technology and extend the substations to be ready for the new connection.
The line will be ready to connect Nemo Link in late 2018.
