Nigerian Government to invest $200M in electricity distribution

Nigerian Minister of State, Power, Works and Housing, Suleiman Hassan Zarma, announced that the federal government is ready to invest $200 million in electric distribution companies in order to boost power supply across the country.

This was disclosed during the commissioning of 30 MVA 132/33 kV power transformer at Gombe substation, when the minister urged electric distribution companies to improve their networks so that this significant investment can lead to economic growth and development of the country, reports Leadership.

“The laudable project being executed by TCN and generation companies will not lead to significant improvement in the quality of power supply to the people unless the distribution companies also invest in rehabilitation and expansion of the network,” the minister said.
