New $4M substation to boost industrialization in Tororo

Uganda: Uganda’s power distribution company Umeme is making requisite preparations to meet the increasing demand for electricity in Tororo, as the district is witnessing an influx of industries setting up in the area.

With the existing nearby substations being incapacitated to take on the expected load, the company is setting up a new substation at Nyakesi, with two power transformers of 20 MVA each, reports Monitor.

The new factories coming to the region include National Cement and Simba and Hima Cement factories, which are expected to start production this year.
