Kenya Power upgrading power infrastructure in Western Region

Kenya Power is investing $19.9 million in various projects aimed at improving power supply in Kisumu and the wider Western and Southern Nyanza region.

The revamp projects include repair works on existing substations and distribution lines, and installation of additional transformers in Kisumu South, Chemelil, Muhoroni, Sibembe and Bukembe substations to meet the growing power demand, reports ESI-Africa.

The company is also extending distribution network through construction of new medium and low voltage lines in the region to connect more homes to the grid.

The projects are scheduled for completion by 2019.
